Ferdowsi’s research addresses some of the usual challenges that hybrid vehicles face—for example, balancing weight reduction against available energy. “This research gets the stress off the shoulder of batteries and pushes it to the ultracaps,” he notes, “and they are much better when it comes to stress.”
As my first grant, the UMRB funding brought a certain level of confidence that my idea was worth funding, and it led to larger steps.
