Vehicles using Ferdowsi’s system will be able to utilize both energy-dense batteries and power-dense ultracapacitors. Being able to both store large amounts of energy and charge/discharge that energy quickly will give automobiles the power needed to address varied driving conditions: accelerating, braking, and coasting. Braking will recharge the ultracapacitors, so that they can be discharged again when accelerating.
As my first grant, the UMRB funding brought a certain level of confidence that my idea was worth funding, and it led to larger steps.
