The Importance of Undergraduate Research

Not exposed to the benefits of research until later in her own education, Zolman recognizes the importance of the undergraduate research experience. Her students’ hands-on lab activities benefit them in their later careers: “the basic concepts that students learn here—that they could learn in the lab or that they might learn in this classroom lab experience we’re trying to generate—would be applicable to working in industry.”
